Another single cask release from Maison Ferrand under their Plantation brand. This rum is from Trinidad.

The facts

Origin : Trinidad Distillers Limited

Raw material : Molasses

Fermentation: 3 days

Distillation : 4 Column still

Year of distillation : 2008

ABV: 49.8 %

Esters (g/hL AA): 205

Tropical Ageing : 11 years in Bourbon casks

Continental Ageing : 1 year in Ferrand casks

Further maturation : 1 year in Chardonnay (Chablis) cask

My tasting notes

Nose: Caramel, fudge, vanilla and a hint of funk. Ripe, tropical fruits. Deeply sweet, but in a tempered way.

Taste: Medium body. Rather dry. White pepper, bitter-ish notes of nuts and oak. Ginger, and a smidge aniseed.

Finish: Medium long finish. Vanilla. Towards the end a very earthy and vegetal note, like root vegetables straight out of the dirt.

Comment: Farmer’s delight.

Score 87/100
