Plantation Vintage Trinidad 2009 12 YO - Limited Edition

Updated: Nov 21, 2021

What the heck! I'll do a third release from Maison Ferrand while I'm at it. Here you go!

The facts

Origin : Trinidad Distillers Limited

Raw material : Molasses

Fermentation: 3 days

Distillation : 4 Column still

Year of distillation : 2009

ABV: 51.9 %

Esters (g/hL AA): 205

Tropical Ageing : 11 years in Bourbon casks (200 litre)

Continental Ageing : 1 year in Ferrand casks (400 litre)

My tasting notes

Nose: Light swirls of caramel and vanilla ice cream. With time deeper sugary notes mixed with tropical fruits. Pineapple on the grill. Light hints of cut grass and green herbs.

Taste: Medium to full body. Rather peppery and warm. Cut grass and dry hay. Tropical fruits and vanilla.

Finish: Medium long finish. Dry and more vegetal now. Light sweetness. Sweet licorice in the end.

Comment: I just love this little adventure of a rum.
